Do you know Ursula Vernon?
I bet yes, but in case you don't, just hurry up and visit her incredibly brilliant gallery:
This little sculpture is sort of an experiment, my challenge to see if I could turn a 2D image into something 3D in a convincing way, keeping the characteristics of the figure in the painting, but with a working tridimensional structure.
This is the picture I used as a reference/model: [link]
The stuff the sculpture is made of is an epoxy putty called "Apoxie sculpt", plus some little spatulas and an indecent amount of hours.
The whole wombat, butterfly included, is a bit more than 2'' tall (or short).
Submitted un-colored because I have a project for this piece and if it works, I will need it in its original version...
The coin is for size comparison.
The sculpture is İme
The original artwork "Wombat and gears" is of course İUrsula Vernon
