Nowth is one of the three main "passage tombs" of the area north of Dublin. I could only see the huge mound in the landscape, while going to Newgrange, because I was on an organized tour, anyway, I had been to Nowth 12 years ago, during my first holiday in Ireland (agh, I was 16 then, eons ago...)
This mound has been rebuilt in during the last 14 years (more or less), but the original materials and shape has been carefully mantained, and it's really very impressive, showing how prehistorical people were very much touched by the concept of after-life, because they lived in wooden huts, but wanted solid, huge and perennial buildings to celebrate the rest of their deads, and important sacred ceremonies.
